Bei Jing Huan Ying Nin

Beautiful right? just got back from Beijing on Wednesday. went there for 3 days. business trip. it was snowing slightly. niceee. i really like Beijing. no idea why. compared to Shanghai, i think Beijing is more cool. however, i still do not like the ah tiongs. haha so rude and so disgusting. i still see them spitting on the ground. YUCKS. why are they dirtying a wonderful city like Beijing? yucks yucks. totally hate it. and the drivers, they drive like they owned the roads. so scarry. i was crossing but yet i can see them coming towards me, NOT slowing down at all. no wonder the government need to have this sign:

Translation: When a car gives way to a pedestrian, it's safety. When a pedestrain gives way to a car, it's civilization. When a car gives way to a car, it's harmony. very creative if you ask me. i was so amazed that i stopped in the middle of the pavement and took this picture. am very sure all the other people must be thinking that im super crazy. haha!

anyway, had some time to do some sight-seeing as i flew in on a sunday. so i literally dropped my luggage in the hotel, bathed and ran out to visit the famous "Forbidden City" or they called it "Gu Gong". it was sooooo huge. i only went in one direction and it took me 3 hours to walk in and out! but it's really worth the effort. however, i must say, it didnt give me the same " wow" effect the India's Humuyam's Tomb has on me. when i saw the tomb, i was like " OMG " but when i saw the palace, i was like " WOW". different effect. wonder why. anyway, i still enjoyed myself very much. and i had this crazy thought while walking around the palace. i felt sorry for the maids and enuachs of the palace. as it's such a huge place, imagine them walking and running, trying to fulfil the needs and wants of their masters. then i told myself, " if i am a princess, i would NEVER make my servants run around the palace " hahaha i told my colleague about it, she laughed NON-STOP. she kept saying im super lame and retarded. anyway, it's really huge. now i know why they never need to leave the palace. it's so huge and if you were to tour the whole palace, i think it would take you 3 months!!!!

then i had some spare time, i went to visit the "Bird Nest" stadium. just wanna drop by to take pictures of it as it was quite a huge thing in 2008. anyway, i must say, it looks very different. on TV, it actually looks quite bird-nesty. but in reality, it's very metallic. it's like a mesh of metals all together. hahaha and the taxi driver who drove me there was kinda funny. i told him i wanna go to the " Bird Nest " and he started his conversation on why did the government gave this stadium such a stupid name. he said it should be named " Phoenix Nest " because they always use the word " bird " in the perogative sense. anyway, doesnt matter, im just a tourist.

after which, i went to their cheap shopping. OMG, it's so bad. they only sell counterfeits. hahaha quite duhz. i wanted to buy some local stuffs at cheap prices but everything is just counterfeits. and i was carrying my gucci bag ( real one okay ) and then the sales aunties saw me and they kept asking " xiao jie, yao bu yao mai duo yi ge gucci or LV? wo you xin huo " warrau, mine is R E A L okay? then i went to real shopping malls, bloody expensive. so i ended up buying 12 DVDs. haha. my best purchase!!!

horse racing!!!

went to my FIRST horse racing section the other day, with my boss and a few other colleagues. it's VERY VERY interesting. basically, my boss decided to bring some colleagues from other office to the horse racing in Hong Kong. and because i've never been there, my boss asked me along.

basically, i think my boss is the high-class kind. we didnt go to the side where all the locals are. we actually went to a restaurant, where there's a buffet dinner waiting for us. so we ate and watched the horses run. in fact, it's pretty exciting. whenever the horses are almost at the finishing line, you can hear the crowd cheering and shouting. it's really like what you see in HK drama or movies. amazing. and you see all sorts of people at the stands - old, young, man, woman, educated, non-educated, etc etc.

basically, there are 12 races one night and when we arrived, 3 races have been run. so while we were eating, my boss was like " so, what horse do you think will win in the next race? " and i went " NUMBER 4 " heh heh. and so my boss asked "wanna bet?" and i went " SURE!" so i took out HKD 50 and put HKD 30 on "place" and HKD 20 on "win". basically, "place" means if your selected horse comes in 1st, 2nd or 3rd, you won. "win" means your horse has to come in 1st. there are other ways of betting but i have no idea how it goes and so i bought the simplest way. and guess what? my horse came in 3rd and i won HKD 110!!! hee hee. so thinking that im on a winning streak, i bought my 2nd race and i lost! then i stopped as i thought it's pretty duhz. hahaha! not quite a risk-taker huh?

a very funny thing happen. at the last race, some of us decided to place a bet. there are 12 horses and we bought 8 horses differently. and we were cheering and hoping our horses will win. and guess what? out of the 8 horses that we bought, NONE of them came in the top 3. in fact, none of them came in the top 4. haha what a joke. we have 67% chances of winning, which is pretty high, but none of us won. haha i guess we are just not the type that have the gamblers' luck.

wouldnt mind going again. it's pretty fun and coolz!!

Happy Chinese New Year!

spent almost 2 weeks in Singapore for Chinese New Year. didnt want to go back to Hong Kong at all. basically, i just enjoyed life like i dont have to work for the past 10 days in Singapore. hee hee. if only i can do that for the rest of my life and still have a steady income. anyway, maybe i really can do that one fine day. maybe.

anyway i did almost what i planned to. i had my local food - chicken rice, roti prata, hokkien mee, carrot cake, ice kachang, home-cooked meals, grandma-cooked meals, steamboat, chilli crab, lou hei. super happy. think i have put on like many kgs already. got to start dieting and exercising. talking about exercising, i am thinking of joining a gym in Hong Kong. initially i thought i could run outside, like what i sometimes used to do in Singapore, but i realize the air is so bad that no one runs outside. haha! anyway, my colleague recommended me to a gym that is near our office and im going for the free trial tomorrow. let's see how things go. if it's good and not too expensive, i'll join. i really need to swaet it out to release the toxic and stress in my body!!!!!

i also met up with many friends, but i havent finished meeting up with all of them!!! seriously, i dont know why i couldnt finish meeting everyone. everyday, i would sleep at like 4am, wake up around 10am, go out for lunch at around 12 pm, goes for dinner at 7pm , drinks at 10pm and still cannot finish meeting everyone. HAHAHA. i guess i am really popular and have lots of friends. but i also spent time hanging out with my family. we gambled and ate together. so i guess i have again fulfilled my task of hanging out. quite happy. BUT i didnt manage to meet up with my secondary school friends but no worries, they are coming to Hong Kong in 2 weeks' time. super happy!

anyway, i get to know 2 very interesting people when i was partying in butter. these 2 guys owned their own company and one of them is a tattoo artist. so i just chatted with them and then they told me that they are friends of Chris Garver. Seriously, i dont really believe them but they sweared that it's true. they said that they were travelling in L.A. and met Chris and even got inked by him. anyway, i asked them if they know Ami too ( as im soooo in love with Ami and they replaced Miami Ink with London Ink on Discovery channel and im super pissed and bored now ) but they said Ami is a bad artist and etc etc. this means they do not know him - BORING. hahaha. anyway they went on telling me they were very good friends and can work together because they are of different characters (seriously, i dont really care). and they said they have a lot of dangerous fun when both of them were in Australia ( again, i dont reallyc are). basically, they told me their life story within the span of 30 mins. in return, i told them, im working in Hong Kong. hahaha. i guess that's fair enough for the exchange of information. anyway, im just excited that i am talking to Chris Garver's friends ( according to them). HAHA!

by the way, i was trying to be cupid (again) when i was in Singapore. to continue the matchmaking that i was trying previously, i arranged for drinks and asked the guy (GOH) and girl (MIC) along. actually, the girl was very very interested in another guy (AL) and she was hinting to me SOO STRONGLY to give the AL her number and ask AL to ask her out that i find it super hilarious. BUT, am not going to do it because i dont want to. anyway, MIC was super excited when she knows that AL is going for drinks. she even called me to find out if we can meet earlier and all but i couldnt as i was with my family. GOH was quite happy to see MIC that night but AL looks super sianz. well, maybe i was late and AL was not happy but i was late for a good reason. i had to fetch my brother to the 24 hours doc as he suddenly developed an allergy to something and had swollen eyes. anyway MIC actually went home to change into a LBD when all of us are in casual wear. haha trying too hard to impress, my dear. trying too hard. me and 2 other friends can see that she's trying very hard but GOH was like " no, she look quite pretty what " hahaha. GOH is infatuated in MIC but was not doing what he's supposed to do to impress her. argh. getting very irritated with GOH being such a miser. hahahaha but i guess that's him and there's nothing much i can do! oh to show how hard MIC is trying, before we exchanged goodbyes, she actually told me " hey, maybe i will catch you this weekend ( we met on a wednesday evening) before you leave for hong kong ". i had no reply as i was shocked. we are not close and we do not hang out at all and why would i catch him on a weekend? she must be thinking that i would be partying with AL and gang this weekend before i left and hoped that i asked her along. OH MY GOD. stop trying to hard!!! anyway didnt catch up wtih her as i didnt have time and i also didnt really partied with AL. i guess it's a case closed for this matchmaking session.

on another note, i seriously hate people who doesnt know me well acting all chummy with me. i went back to the office on one of the evening to have some drinks with some of the closer colleagues. one of the girls (TLI) came by. to give some background, i hardly talked to her when i was in Singapore, i never messaged her or anything when i was in Singapore or in Hong Kong. in short, we NEVER talked. but when she saw me on that evening, she actually wanted to give me a hug. duhz. i was shocked. i saw another closer colleague and was walking towards her when TLI suddenly gave me a hug. so embarrassing. and i was thinking of planning a trip to Phuket with some of my colleagues and i asked her along because AL wanted to. i mean usually, she would never turn up at any of our partying or stuffs and so i thought she's not going. but lo and behold, she's actually going and im a little turn-off. i really dont like hanging out with her and AL told me to be nice to her and not ignore her. i was a little pissed off. i told AL " im on a holiday and i still have to please her? then i rather not go. anyway i wont be nasty to her but if i have nothing to talk to her, i will not talk to her. am not ignoring her but just that i have nothing to say to her " i am seriously thinking about not going for the holidays now. anyway supposed to have another girl friend to join but she cant as she has family commitment. super super super sianz. and when we were discussing about the rooms, TLI was like " babe, im sharing the room with you right? " WTH. use backside think also know it's a redundant question. i told her " no, you're sharing with AL " hahahaha and she said im mean. come on, which part of my sentence was mean? then she said she had to show her bare face to another guy and cannot bounce around in her boxers. i replied " your bare face cannot be seen? i guess as much. you can still bounce around in boxers. i dont care. if you care, get another room yourself? " and she didtn reply. bet she complained to AL that i was mean again. sigh. maybe i should just told them to cancel this trip as i really dont feel like going with people whom i dont really care about. sigh. sometimes, i hate myself for being so easy.
