I am a Great Wall Climber!

this is a very proud me! i am officialy a Great Wall Climber. okok , maybe i didnt climb the whole wall but i did climb lah. and seriously, it was TIRING. it didnt look very tiring but it was. trust me. i was huffing and puffing and huffing and puffing. and in the temperature of like 18 Degrees Celsius ( i think ) , i was perspiring. a pity it's kinda misty and so cant see the wall properly but it was huge.

guess the pictures spoke more than my words. yes the pictures are very nice because it was misty and maybe i am not a good photographer but hey, it's quite a wonder how this wall is built. so hurrah to the Chinese! yay!

ooh when i arrived in Beijing, it coincided with the final rehearsal for the Chinese national day and guess what? they sealed up the WHOLE TOWN! not only do they close the roads, they close the pedestrain walkway too. they do not allow anyone on the street, not even to catch a glimpse of the rehearsal. WTH. pissed like crazy. and so me and friend just stayed in the hotel ( thank god the hotel is a good one ) and slept really early to get ready for our Great Wall adventure! okay, maybe not adventure but we really need to get up super early to have breakfast and to be picked up by our local tour.

talking about the local tour, friend and i pleasantly surprised that the tour guide's command of english is good. we can understand him very well and he explains all the historical stuffs to us pretty well. and his name is kinda interesting. his name is " Forest Song ". haha i am so paiseh to call him "Forest" as i know i might just burst out laughing.

ooh our tour also consist of the Ming Tombs. Basically we went to visit one of the tombs of one of the emperors of the Ming Dynasty. Apparently, there are 13 tombs and only 2 are opened up. mainly because we cannot afford to open all up until our technology allows us to open it without harm. accordingly, when the tomb was opened up, as air gets in, everything gets destroyed. and this tomb was opened up because the emperor was not very good and so the chinese dont mind having the stuffs destroyed. haha. and besides, it seems that a lot of things got burnt and destroyed during the cultural revelation.

nothing much from the Ming Tombs. all the pictures didnt turn out nice. anyway, the big red box is the coffin and the small boxes are the jewellery. and the 2 empress were buried with the emperor as they both died before him and so they could be buried togets.

well, a trip to beijing will not be complete with the tour of the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace. although i have visisted the forbidden city previously, but i still want to revisit it. it's kinda of like going home. hahaha. after my previous trip to the forbidden city and after i confessed to my friends that i feel bad for the maids and servants who had to travelled on foot to all parts of the palaces, they started calling me "princess" or rather " ge ge" . hahaha. but to be honest, it's soo huge that after a while, everything kinda looked the same. friend and i just go " oh i thought we saw this just now? " and we realized that the emperors, empresses and concubines loved to entertain themselves in the gardens. so friend and i tried to entertain ourselves in the garden too. didnt turn out to be that entertaining. and i still pity those servants and maids for having to run around the palaces. friend think that they are only dedicated to one area and only need to know one area well and so they need to pass messages. maybe she's right. and friend made a very interesting comment. she said if she had a summer house and a house, she wouldnt make both of them the same. but apparently, in the olden times, only one design. haha. well, as evidence, i have uploaded some pictures from summer palace and some from forbidden city. and they all looked like they are from the same area! haha!

think we both look darn pretty here. *winks*
